DC component sensor for grid monitoring
A special sensor was developed to measure with high accuracy the DC component in the grid voltage. DC component is caused by not linear loads and/or transformerless grid connected inverters. This innovative sensor (patent pending) is inherently free from offsets. It can be used to detect the DC component of the grid for diagnostic purposes or to implement active filters to compensate these unwanted and dangerous components. Dc components on the distribution grid, in fact, can cause magnetic saturation in the transformers of the power grid, with subsequent risk of overheating and catastrophic damage.
